The Japan Rail Pass is available to foreign tourists visiting Japan for 90 days or less for sightseeing purposes.
To obtain a Japan Rail Pass, purchase a voucher at an authorized travel agent before your departure to Japan. You will only need to show your passport since the visa requirements have been waived.
Upon arrival in Japan, entry status (Short Term Stay) will be stamped on your passport at the immigration office. You will go from there to the JR Information & Ticket Office at Narita Airport or to one of the JR Travel Service Centers and exchange your voucher for a Japan Rail Pass. Specify on the Japan Rail Pass application the date you first wish to use it. The pass will then be effective from that day for 7, 14 or 21 days, depending on length purchases. Japan Rail Passes must be used within three months of the date of issue.
The Japan Rail Pass cannot be purchased in Japan.

*Prices subject to change.
